About Mount Gahinga

Bushbucks and black-fronted duikers are commonly seen near the summit and occasionally move down to the lower slopes. At roughly 100 years old, Gahinga is the second youngest volcano in the Virunga Massif.

Birding is possible year-round, though the dry seasons from June to October and December to February tend to offer the clearest conditions.

Many still live nearby today and work in the park as porters and guides.
