2 Days Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Safari from Kigali - Itinerary & Highlights

Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On the first morning of your 2-Day Bwindi Gorilla Tour from Kigali, a guide from our Uganda tours and travel company will pick you up from the airport or your hotel in Kigali. You’ll head to visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Monument, depending on your arrival time, have lunch if necessary, visit a few more places within the city, and finally drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Upon arrival at the park, you will check into your lodge and relax as you prepare for your Uganda gorilla trekking experience the next day. Dinner and overnight at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Departure

Wake up to an early morning breakfast in the misty Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi shelters over half of the world’s remaining population of mountain gorillas. You’ll feel like you’re among gorillas as soon as you wake up – it will feel like home.

After breakfast, you will drive to your starting point where you will receive a short briefing from the park wardens. During this meeting, they will inform you of the rules, regulations, dos and don’ts of mountain gorilla trekking, and provide you with a few tips.

It is also during this meeting that you will be assigned to a mountain gorilla family randomly. After the briefing, you will embark on your trek to find your specific mountain gorilla family. The trek can last from two to eight hours, including a full hour spent with these magnificent gorillas.

After encountering the Uganda gorillas, you will trek back to your starting point, collect your gorilla trekking certificates, return to your lodge for lunch, and then proceed with your drive back to Kigali in Rwanda.

You will spend another four to five hours on the road as you drive back to Kigali, where you can choose to be dropped off at the airport or any accommodation of your choice within Kigali.

This marks the end of your 2-Day Bwindi Gorilla Tour from Kigali.
