Detailed 3-Day Bwindi & Lake Bunyonyi Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Pick Up & Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Depending on your location in Kigali, a tour guide from our gorilla safari company will pick you up, take you for a city tour to visit places like the Genocide Memorial Monument, Caplaki Crafts Village, Kimironko Market, and more, then transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Southwestern Uganda.

The drive takes about four to five hours with a brief stopover and border clearance. When you finally reach Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, proceed to your lodge for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After an early heavy breakfast at your lodge, drive to the starting point of your trek. Your guide will ensure you reach the briefing point on time.

During the briefing, learn about what you should and shouldn’t do while gorilla trekking in Uganda. Pay attention and ask any necessary questions. Gorillas are wild animals and must be treated gently.

After the briefing, your adventure begins. Your group leader will guide you to your specific gorilla family. The trek takes between two to eight hours, including a full hour spent with these apes.

Maintain an 8-meter distance from the gorillas and avoid using flash photography as it can irritate them and cause aggressive behavior.

After this magical hour, return to the starting point, proceed to the park headquarters to receive your gorilla trekking certificates, check out from the lodge, and drive to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation.

Day 3: Lake Bunyonyi & Transfer to Kigali

Spend the morning relaxing at one of the most beautiful places in the world, Lake Bunyonyi, to unwind and relax. Enjoy a boat ride to Punishment Island and other islands.

After lunch, begin your journey back to Kigali in Rwanda, marking the end of your 3-Day Bwindi Gorilla Trekking & Lake Bunyonyi Tour from Kigali.
