Detailed 3-Day Uganda Gorilla Habituation Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast at your hotel in Kigali or Entebbe, your guide will pick you up and transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda.
Along the way, take a short city tour of Kigali or Kampala, with stops at a few key landmarks. The drive from Kigali to Bwindi takes about 4 to 5 hours; from Kampala, it takes 8 to 10 hours.
On arrival at Bwindi, check in to your lodge and rest ahead of your gorilla habituation experience the next day. Overnight stay at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Habituation in Bwindi
This is your day with the gorillas. Spend about 4 hours with one of the gorilla groups in Rushaga available for habituation.
Gorilla habituation groups are limited to four people, with only two habituation groups currently available. The experience lasts four hours, compared to the standard one-hour gorilla trek, which allows up to eight people per group.
With fewer people and more time, habituation gives you a closer, more detailed look at the gorillas’ behavior.
After the experience, return to the starting point to collect your gorilla habituation permit, then head back to your lodge.
Day 3: Transfer Back to Kigali
Spend the morning resting at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park before the transfer back to Kigali. You’ll be dropped at a hotel of your choice or Kigali International Airport for your flight home.
