Detailed 3-Day 2 Gorilla Treks Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi in Uganda
After breakfast, or on arrival at the airport in Kigali, your guide will pick you up for a short briefing on the trip ahead, followed by a city tour of Kigali, one of Africa’s cleanest cities.
The tour includes the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Kimironko Market, Caplaki Craft Village, and the Hôtel des Mille Collines, among other stops.
Afterward, continue the drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, taking about 4 to 5 hours. On arrival, check in to your lodge and rest ahead of your first gorilla trek the next day.
Day 2: First Gorilla Encounter in the Nkuringo Sector
Have an early breakfast, taking in the views of Bwindi’s Nkuringo sector. Afterward, your guide will transfer you to the trailhead for the pre-trek briefing.
During the briefing, you’ll be assigned a gorilla family and given the guidelines to follow while trekking.
Afterward, follow your trail into the forest in search of the gorillas.
Once you find them, spend an hour with the group before returning to the starting point to collect your gorilla trekking certificate.
Continue on to the Rushaga sector, in southern Bwindi, ahead of your second gorilla trek.
Day 3: Second Gorilla Encounter and Departure
On this final day, follow the same routine as the previous day, with a different ranger team since you’re now in a different sector.
After your second gorilla encounter, you’ll be picked up and transferred to Kigali, marking the end of your 3-Day Bwindi Double Gorilla Trekking Tour.
