Searching for a Rwanda safari package that offers a 1-Day Express Gorilla Trekking Tour in Rwanda? Rwanda gorillas in Volcanoes National Park are just 2 hours away from Kigali, the main entry point for safaris in Rwanda, which has made it possible to have short gorilla treks that can even last for hours.
However, you will have to wake up extremely early to begin your safari. You have to leave Kigali by 4:30 am if you are to arrive at Volcanoes National Park in Musanze on time for the morning briefing session. See detailed itinerary for this 1-Day Express Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda below.
Detailed 1-Day Rwanda Gorilla Tour Itinerary
As mentioned above, this day calls for a very early morning departure. You will have your morning breakfast by 4:00 am and depart Kigali City at exactly 4:30, driving towards Volcanoes National Park in Musanze, north of Rwanda.
Volcanoes National Park is the only mountain gorilla habitat in Rwanda. The park shares the Virunga Conservation Area, an area also shared by Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda and Virunga National Park in DR Congo.
In this conservation area are the Virunga Volcano Mountains: Mount Bisoke, Mount Karisimbi, Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga, Mount Sabyinyo, Mount Mikeno, Mount Nyamuragira, and Mount Nyiragongo.
The mountain gorillas in this area roam within the foothills of these volcano mountains.
When you reach Volcanoes National Park, you will proceed to the park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing session and then head to the mountains to search for your particular mountain gorilla family.
Gorilla trekking in Rwanda can take from 3 to 6 hours depending on the mobility of the gorillas.
When you finally locate your gorilla family, you will be allowed to spend 1 hour with them before returning to the starting point to pick up your gorilla trekking certificate and drive back to Kigali.
You could have your lunch en-route to Kigali or within the city.
This marks the end of your 1-Day Express Gorilla Trekking Tour in Rwanda.
