Detailed 10-Day Best of Tanzania Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to Tarangire National Park

Upon arrival, you will meet the driver/guide who will brief you about the entire trip. You will then drive to Tarangire National Park. Check in to the lodge of your choice and have a delicious lunch as you relax.

You can spend the whole afternoon in the hotel compound reading a magazine or any book. The other option is having a guided nature walk around the nearby parts of the park.

Have dinner and spend the night.

Day 2: Game drive in Tarangire National Park

After a morning breakfast, pack your lunch and meet your driver/guide for a full-day game drive in Tarangire National Park.

The park is a home of wonders characterized by baobab trees, several animal species, birds, and other plant species.

Return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater

After a morning breakfast, connect with your driver/guide and embark on the journey to the magical Ngorongoro Crater.

This is an opportunity for you to explore the world’s largest inactive caldera, featuring attractions like Lake Magadi, home of flamingos.

Check in to the lodge of your choice, have dinner, and spend the night.

Day 4: Crater rim experience

After a morning breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro Crater for a spectacular experience of the surrounding areas.

You will walk through the trees and grasslands of the park, encountering animals like leopards, cheetahs, lions, buffaloes, antelopes, and waterbucks, to mention but a few.

Return to your lodge in the evening for relaxation, supper, and overnight stay.

Day 5: Rift Valley Experience

This is a new day in the same park with different experiences. After a morning breakfast, pack your lunch and go for a Rift Valley experience.

This involves a trek to Lake Natron as well as an encounter with the Masai people who are the dwellers of this area. You will enjoy their way of life as they tend to their animals.

The experience also includes scenic views of the surrounding landscape and escarpment.

Return to your lodge for dinner and spend the night.

Day 6: Transfer to Serengeti National Park

After a morning breakfast, you will embark on the journey to Serengeti National Park, the home of the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, and elephant).

The journey takes you through wide-open savannah plains and volcanic rocky hills.

Check in to the hotel/lodge of your choice upon arrival and have a delicious lunch.

You can opt for an afternoon game drive or stay at your lodge relaxing as you wait for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Morning and Afternoon Game Drives

In the morning, you will have breakfast and embark on the morning game drive to the deeper parts of the park.

The drive will take you through Savannah vegetation where you will spot animal species such as zebras, lions, and buffaloes.

Return to your lodge for lunch.

There is no resting; go for an afternoon game drive as soon as you finish your lunch. This is an adventure to the heart of Serengeti National Park.

You will see the wildebeest population as they move to and from Tsavo National Park depending on the season. It is an opportunity for you to see a lion or leopard kill a zebra or buffalo for lunch.

It is a moment turned into memory.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Transfer to Lake Manyara National Park

After a morning breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park, home of tree-climbing lions and the shallow alkaline Lake Manyara.

Check in to the lodge of your choice upon arrival. Spend the rest of the day relaxing in preparation for the coming day.

Day 9: Morning and Afternoon Game Drives

After a morning breakfast, pack your lunch and meet your driver/guide for game drives in the mighty Lake Manyara National Park.

You will get to see tree-climbing lions resting on tree branches. There are other animal species like zebras, antelopes, and elephants, to mention but a few.

Explore Lake Manyara and get to see aquatic animals and bird species.

Return to your lodge for dinner and spend the night.

Day 10: Transfer to Arusha – Departure

After a morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet your driver for a drive to Arusha city, where you will be dropped off for a flight back home, marking the end of your 10-day Tanzania group safari.
