Detailed 5-Day Marangu Kilimanjaro Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Arusha Airport and transfer to Moshi Town
Upon arrival at Arusha International Airport, you will meet our professional driver guide who will brief you about the safari. Stop at any hotel in the city for lunch.
Afterward, drive to Moshi town where upon arrival, you can book a lodge of your choice for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 2: Trek to Marangu Gate and then to Mandara Hut for night camping
After a delicious morning breakfast, coordinate with your driver/guide, finalize paperwork, and then transfer to Marangu Gate at 1860m. Enjoy scenic views of the neighboring features, several primate species, and spectacular vegetation during the trek to Mandara Hut.
Relax upon arrival before continuing to Maundi Crater for spectacular views of the Kenyan interior.
Day 3: Trek from Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Wake up to a delicious morning breakfast and then transfer to Horombo Hut through timberline, heath, and moorland. The journey takes between four and six hours. Upon arrival, you will see Mawenzi, Kibo, and the wide plain of the Masai steppe.
Day 4: From Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Same mountain but different experiences. We are now on the second last day of your climbing safari, which is special in its own way. Start with a lip-smacking breakfast and then embark on a 5-6-hour climb through long and tough trails. The plateau is almost vegetation-free and connects Kibo and Mawenzi.
Have a late dinner upon arrival and spend the night.
Day 5: Return to Arusha – Departure
Enjoy a delicious breakfast and descend back to Mandara Hut where you will meet your driver for a drive back to Arusha city. Stop for lunch at any hotel of your choice and then continue to the airport for your flight back home, marking the end of your safari.
