Detailed 5-Day Tanzania Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Arusha and transfer to Lake Manyara National Park

Arrive at the airport in Arusha or be picked up from your hotel in the morning after breakfast and head to Lake Manyara National Park.

The journey takes about 4 to 5 hours, including an enroute stopover for lunch.

Arrive and check in at the booked campsite. Start the evening game drive where you will be able to spot animals like the rare tree-climbing lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, wildebeests, buffalos, zebras, and much more.

The rare tree-climbing lions can only be spotted in two destinations in Africa: Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda and Lake Manyara NP in Tanzania.

Day 2: Morning game drive and transfer to Serengeti National Park

Enjoy a morning game drive to spot more wildlife in the Savannah of Lake Manyara National Park. Afterward, head to Serengeti National Park, renowned for hosting the annual wildebeest migrations—one of the world’s top wonders.

There is much to explore in these three parks, ranging from the Big Five animals, big cats, and more. Have your enroute lunch at a designated place.

Arrive in the evening, pitch your tent in the wilderness, have dinner, and settle in for campfire stories.

Day 3: Full day in Serengeti National Park

Explore the Savannah plains of Serengeti National Park where you will encounter diverse wildlife. Spot early risers during early morning game drives, mainly predators like lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, jackals, and more.

Discover other wild animals such as buffalos, warthogs, zebras, giraffes, greater kudu, and more during afternoon game drives, each lasting about 2 to 3 hours in the plains.

Hippos and crocodiles will be spotted in the rivers, adding to the experience. Return to the campsite for dinner, creating lasting memories around the campfire.

Day 4: Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater after a morning game drive

Set off to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area after an early game drive with packed lunch. Proceed to the Ngorongoro Crater area with a stopover at Olduvai Gorge, where you can learn about early human history and the discovery of early man remains. If time allows, embark on a game drive to spot different wildlife.

Day 5: Drive to Arusha after a morning game drive

Have breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive, and view the largest caldera while spotting different wildlife. Witness Masai pastoralists grazing their large herds of cattle.

Spot different animals like impalas, zebras, lions, warthogs, olive baboons, buffalos, hyenas, among others, and then drive back to Arusha where you will board your flight back home.

End of 5-Day Tanzania Camping Safari.
