Detailed 4-Day Congo Gorillas & Lake Kivu Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from Kigali City and Transfer to Virunga National Park – DR Congo
Be picked up from an agreed point in Kigali city, Rwanda, on this first day of your 4 Days Virunga Gorillas & Kivu Beach tour and immediately drive through the countryside of Rwanda, overlooking the different hills.
Cross the border and head to D.R. Congo where your safari is designed to take you. Check in at the lodge upon arrival and stay overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Virunga National Park
Head to the park office early in the morning for the best gorilla experience after breakfast. This will begin with breakfast at the lodge; afterward, the park guide ranger will take you through a briefing that covers the dos and don’ts while trekking.
These regulations will ensure your safety in conjunction with wildlife, especially the gorillas, to maintain their wild nature.
Start the search for the allocated or booked gorilla family, and upon locating them, spend an hour in their presence, creating everlasting memories.
Watch them breastfeed their young ones, similar to human beings, feed, play, and observe the silverback practicing its leadership skills.
Head back to the lodge after tracking, which can last for over 3 hours in the jungle, and spend some leisure time in the evening.
Day 3: Virunga to Lake Kivu
Leave Virunga National Park from your lodge immediately after breakfast, embarking on a great adventure. Take a 2-hour boat cruise that will expose you to the best of Lake Kivu.
Enjoy a relaxing time at one of the resorts on Lake Kivu, surrounded by numerous bird species to explore. Rest for the night as you prepare for the next day’s departure.
Day 4: Transfer to Kigali and Fly Back Home
Leave D.R. Congo and transfer back to Kigali city, where you will board a flight back home, marking the end of this 4-day Virunga and Lake Kivu tour.
